38 hotspot sites across 35 parks where Wi-Fi is genuinely free — no time limits, no day passes, no subscription. Sourced from the NYC Parks Wi-Fi directory and NYC Open Data.
On “strong” signal: no public dataset measures signal strength or throughput in NYC parks, so
none is claimed here. This map uses access model as the quality filter: it shows only the two tiers NYC Parks
classifies as unrestricted, and excludes the 162 “Limited Free” sites (Spectrum / Altice USA), which give three
10-minute sessions per 30 days before charging $0.99/day. Coverage area per site is listed — several hotspots cover
only one corner of a large park.

Data notes
Three parks appear under different names in the two city datasets. The NYC Parks directory lists
Hillside Dog Park where the hotspot dataset says “Hillside Park”, and
Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk and Beach where the hotspot dataset says “Ocean Breeze Park” —
these are adjacent Staten Island properties, so that pin may be off by a few hundred metres. Matched on the identical
site description in both records.
The hotspot dataset lists a fourth Central Park site (near Tavern on the Green) that the current NYC Parks directory
no longer lists; it is excluded.
Partner-site pins are park centroids, not measured antenna positions. NYC Parks records the provider only as
“BID”, so no specific operator is named.
“Columbus Park” here is the Brooklyn property near Cadman Plaza (GIS B113C), not the
Chinatown park of the same name, confirmed from the park page.
